8 Slices Bacon, 6 Cups Chicken Broth, 2 Medium Ham Hocks, 1 Teaspoon Salt, 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper, 3 Garlic Cloves, 1 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • Set the crockpot to low heat and cook for 6-8 hours or until the black eyed peas are tender. If you're in a hurry, you can cook them on high heat for 3-4 hours.
  • Once the peas are tender, remove the ham hocks from the crockpot and shred the meat. Discard any bones or excess fat. Return the shredded ham back to the crockpot and give it a good stir.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed by adding more salt or black pepper.
  • Serve the black eyed peas hot and enjoy as a main dish or side dish. They pair well with cornbread or rice.
