Southern Classic Fried Chicken Without Buttermilk

Southern classic fried chicken without buttermilk is the new thing. Maybe? Crispy southern fried chicken with just the right amount of seasoning.
Southern Classic Fried Chicken

Ingredients  

  • 8 Small Pieces of chicken thighs and chicken legs
  • 2 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 2 Tablespoon Black Pepper
  • 2 Teaspoon Seasoning Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 1/2 Cups Flour
  • Vegetable Oil Enough to cover chicken

Flour Seasoning

  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder To your liking
  • 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper To your liking
  • 1 Teaspoon Seasoning Salt To your liking
  • 1 Teaspoon Paprika To your liking

Instructions

  • Add a Dutch oven pot to the stove on medium-high. Allow the grease to hit a 350 degrees temperature. Use a grease thermometer to know if it’s at that temperature

  • To a bowl add your washed and patted dry chicken
    8 Small Pieces of chicken thighs and chicken legs
  • Season your chicken and rub in all of the ingredients
    2 Tablespoon Garlic Powder, 2 Tablespoon Black Pepper, 2 Teaspoon Seasoning Salt, 1 Tablespoon Paprika
  • Next, in a ziplock bag, add the flour along with seasonings. Close the ziplock bag and shake well.
    1 1/2 Cups Flour, 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder, 1 Teaspoon Seasoning Salt, 1 Teaspoon Paprika, 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • Add chicken in and the bag and shake well again
  • Place your chicken in the hot grease making sure not to overcrowd the pot.
  • Allow too deep fry for 10 to 15 minutes for smaller chicken or until inside temperature reaches 165 degrees.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes and enjoy.

Notes

  • The chicken will rise to the top once it’s done frying
  • Always allow your meat 5 minutes before eating
  • Use a meat thermometer to make sure the inside temperature is at 165.
  • Use a cast iron Dutch oven
