Easy Southern Smothered Chicken and Rice

This classic dish has been a staple in many households and comes with an amazing blend of flavors that will surely please everyone at your table. Ingredients  

  • 2 lb Boneless Chicken Breast Any Chicken of your choice but remember the bigger the chicken the longer you will have to let the meat simmer
  • 2 Tbsp All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 1/2 Cup Chicken Broth
  • 3 Tbsp Salted Butter
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder To your liking
  • 1 Tsp Black Pepper To your liking
  • 1 Tbsp Onion Powder To your liking
  • 1 Tsp Black Pepper To your liking
  • 1 Tbsp Powdered Chicken Bouillon
  • 1 Medium Onion chopped
  • 1/2 Green Bell Pepper chopped
  • 1/2 Orange Bell Pepper chopped
  • 1/2 Yellow Bell Pepper chopped
  • White Rice Cooked

Instructions

  • Clean and Pat your chicken dry.
    2 lb Boneless Chicken Breast
  • Cut your chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  • To a bowl, add your chicken and season to taste.
    1 Tbsp Garlic Powder, 1 Tsp Black Pepper, 1 Tbsp Onion Powder, 1 Tsp Black Pepper, 1 Tbsp Powdered Chicken Bouillon
  • Next, add butter to a medium-high skillet. Once the butter melts, add in your chopped chicken breast.
    3 Tbsp Salted Butter
  • Allow cooking until golden brown.
  • Remove the chicken and sit to the side.
  • To the same pan, add chopped peppers, and onions. Allow cooking until they reach desired texture.
    1 Medium Onion, 1/2 Green Bell Pepper, 1/2 Orange Bell Pepper, 1/2 Yellow Bell Pepper
  • Once cooked down, stir in all-purpose flour and cook down until dissolved.
    2 Tbsp All-Purpose Flour
  • Next, add chicken broth and breast to the pot and stir.
    2 1/2 Cup Chicken Broth
  • Place a lid on, turn the stove to medium-low, and allow to simmer for 30 to 45 minutes or until gravy thickens.
  • Serve over the top of white rice.
    White Rice
