Why Recreate The Magic?

Easy Gravy- There are no pork drippings needed in this Southern gravy. Nope, you will make this golden brown gravy from scratch within about 15 minutes! That makes this an easy recipe for special occasions or your favorite pork recipes.

Much Flavor– The simple seasonings play a major hand in how your brown gravy will turn out. Also another great thing about this savory pork gravy is how you can add to or take away from it. Cajun, Italian, or herbs is would be another ideal list of flavor enhancers.

Cooking Process- The entire recipe takes about 10 to 15 minutes. 1-2 minutes alone go to cooking down onions etc. In addition to that, you can also slow cook your gravy. All recipes are based on your desired thickness. So, more flour means more thick gravy.

Ingredients You Will Need

  • Butter- To make the drippings for a delicious pork roast is pretty easy with a little butter. You can use salted or unsalted butter. It’s your preference.
  • All Purpose Flour- honestly, it feels like the best gravy has flour in it. That’s why I love a good flour roux.
  • Beef Broth- The good thing about this flavorful pork gravy recipe is that it allows you to switch up your broth for any broth.
  • Worcestershire Sauce-  To make the perfect gravy, I added in a little bit of what you call it sauce, lol. This makes a dark, beautiful gravy.
  • Seasonings- Black Pepper and onion powder. You can add any other seasoning you like.

How to make Roast Pork Gravy Recipe?

Gravy definitely can be made from either the leftover drippings from your meal or you can make it completely from scratch. I will teach you how to make it completely from scratch.

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Once the butter has melted, add the flour to the pan and whisk it continuously until it forms a smooth paste. This mixture is called a roux and will thicken the gravy.
  • Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking constantly to prevent any lumps from forming.
  • Add the Worcestershire sauce to the mixture and continue whisking until everything is well combined.
  • Bring the gravy to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally to avoid sticking.
  • Taste the gravy and season with salt and pepper according to your preference. Adjust the seasoning as needed.
  • If you prefer a smoother texture, strain the gravy using a fine mesh sieve before serving.
  • Serve your delicious pot roast gravy alongside your favorite roast beef or other main dishes.

Substitutions/ Variations

Beef Broth- As I mentioned above, you can substitute beef broth for whatever broth you like, such as vegetable or chicken broth.

Onion Gravy- You can sauté a sweet onion to add to your pork gravy drippings. This will give you that Southern gravy taste. Oh, another great addition of good gravy is white wine.

Cajun Gravy- Make your gravy creole style. Add in a ton of Cajun seasoning to make the ultimate Cajun gravy.

Storage

You can store this recipe in an airtight container or in a mason jar to have for a later date.

How long can you keep gravy in the refrigerator?

I keep my gravy in the refrigerator for about 3 to 4 days. You can also store the gravy in the freezer for about 3 to 4 months, and it is just as yummy. I have never tried this out, though. Maybe someday I will test that theory.

Can you substitute the broth for anything in this recipe?

Yes, you can substitute the beef broth with chicken broth, bouillon cubes, vegetable broth, and even milk. To name a few.

What can you add to gravy to give it more flavor?

You can add so many ingredients to your gravy to spice it up. For instance, you can add chopped mushrooms, onions, parsley, peppers, and garlic. You name it! Pretty much any ingredients you like can go into gravy. This is why gravy is so near and dear to my family’s heart!!

What can I add this pork roast gravy to?

Add this to baby potatoes, green beans, boneless pork loin roast, pork steaks, pork shoulder, or crock pot pork roast.

  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 Cups Beef Broth or vegetable broth if you prefer
  • 1 Teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
