Pecan sticky buns

I love the fall for many reasons, but the main one is the comforting food we can cuddle up with and my easy homemade sticky buns made with Pillsbury dough, cinnamon, brown sugar, and so much more. The flavors are out of this world and paired perfectly with a glass of coffee!

Ingredients for pecan sticky buns recipe

Pecan sticky buns 2
  •  Brown Sugar- This gives your pecan sticky buns an earthy, warm taste that compliments the texture of the bread.
  • Butter Melted-  Go ahead and use salted or unsalted butter. Either way, you will still have a delicious dessert!
  • Pecans Chopped- Try to go for fresh chopped pecans. Not all pecans are made equal.
  • Vanilla Extract- Flavor, flavor, and more flavor.
  • Pillsbury cinnamon rolls- Star of the show. This is what makes this recipe so simple and easy.
  • Ground Cinnamon- Helps bring out even more flavor in brown sugar.
  • Flour- This will help so that the dough won’t stick to the surface.

How to make a sticky buns recipe?

Preheat That Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°. Spray nonstick spray onto a 9-inch round or square baking pan.

Mix cup brown sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Begin spreading the mixture evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking pan.

Pecan’s On Pecan’s

Spread the chopped pecans evenly over the sugar mixture.

Lightly flour a clean surface with one tablespoon of flour to prevent sticking.

Open the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and carefully unroll each roll to form a long strip.

Sweeten Up The Dish

Mix the remaining 1/2 cup of brown sugar with the ground cinnamon in a separate bowl.

Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the unrolled dough strips.

Roll the dough strips back into their original shape, then evenly space them on top of the pecan mixture in the pan.

Bake It Up

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

Invert the pan and let the rolls cool for 3 to 5 minutes.

Now, invert the dish on a serving plate so the pecan topping covers the buns.

Optional: drizzle the icing that came with the cinnamon rolls over the top of the sticky buns for extra sweetness.

What Can I pair with?

  • Coffee- The richness of cold-brewed coffee pairs well with them. It will give you a caffeine boost that this mom of 3 can’t can’t resist.🤭
  • Ice Cream- pairs beautifully with cinnamon rolls in several mouthwatering ways. The ice cream added to the warm rolls creates a pleasant sensory experience.
  • Tea- The light, nuanced flavors of tea can complement the sweetness and spiciness of cinnamon rolls without overwhelming them. Herbal or chai teas, in particular, enhance the cinnamon flavor.
