Oxtail Rasta Pasta

What Is Oxtail Rasta Pasta?

It’s a classic oxtail recipe tossed in a creamy sauce and smothered in the velvety textured cream sauce. You can use a meat mixture in this creamy rasta pasta recipe. I used oxtails. The ingredients are simple and involve things like garlic powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, penne pasta, colorful bell peppers, beef broth, or chicken stock, to name a few.

Ingredients For Oxtail Rasta Pasta

  • Fresh OxtailsTry getting medium-sized oxtails. These make the best jerk oxtails. They are not too small. You don’t want to get them so big that there isn’t enough water to cover them. This also helps if you are watching calories.
  • Jamaican Jerk Seasoning— store-bought is fine.
  • Butter– Add flavor and sears meat.
  • Penne PastaYou can use any pasta you like, such as short pasta or rigatoni. When cooking pasta, make sure to use salted water.
  • Bell PeppersI used green and yellow bell peppers, which go well with the jerk spice mix. You can also use a Vidalia onion.

A list of ingredients and full instructions will be listed in the recipe card below.

  • Vegan VersionYou must remove the meat, just as in the vegan version. To spruce up your meal even more, add more of the spice blend or a tablespoon of jerk seasoning.
  • SalmonIf you don’t want the shrimp but still desire seafood as the main ingredient, try adding salmon.
  • Chicken Rasta Pasta-  talking about changing your life, chicken is what you will have once you combine it with this pasta. One delicious meal!  Also, try adding in some red wine.

Storage

It would help if you stored your southern oxtail Rasta pasta in an airtight container so that it is fresh for the next time.

FAQs

What do oxtails taste like?

The taste of oxtails is a mixture of neck bones and short ribs. In the stovetop version, brown seasoning bits at the pan’s bottom caramelize.
