I love to sit down and cozy up to a warm homemade chili cheese dog with onions and French fries. Whoa, that was a mouthful, but it was worth it. The sausage links are fried, placed onto a fluffy bun, then topped with cheesy goodness!

My chili dogs somewhat remind me of the fair during the Fall!! The warm stovetop chili is a banger; it brings not only the season to life but also my taste buds!

What’s In These Chili Cheese Dogs?

Chili Cheese Dog with Onions 5
  •   Fresh Buns- Fluffy store-bought hot dog buns will always do the job.
  • Cheese Wieners—Here is the thing. Regular links do the job, but try looking for the ones with cheese on the inside.
  • 80/20 Ground Beef- This will ensure an excellent juicy texture.
  • Ketchup—This is what is used to ensure that you get the in-depth flavor of that good ole quick and easy chili!
  • Seasoning- I use simple seasonings such as garlic powder and all-purpose seasoning.
  • Sugar- A few sprinkles of sugar or as much as you need to get that sweet taste.
  •    Cheese—You can make it super cheesy with sharp cheddar cheese or Gouda cheese; it’s completely up to you.

·How To Make Chili Cheese Dogs with Onions?

  • Add your cheese sausage links to a pot, allow to sear for 3 to 5 minutes, and remove.
  • Add your chopped onions to the same pot and allow them to cook on medium high for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Next, add your seasoned ground beef to the pot and cook until brown, then drain all the remaining grease.
  • Add your ketchup along with chicken broth and sugar.  Mix until everything is combined.
  • Plate it up by adding shredded cheese to the bun, cheese dog, and chili, along with cheese and onion toppings!
