I was baffled when I first heard the term chicken lollipop, but it grew on me rather quickly. So, lollipop chicken legs are chicken drumsticks that you either use a knife or shears. You then push the meat’s skin towards the thicker part. You want to make sure you discard the remainder of the chicken. This would be any excessive meat left around the legs or any skin hanging off.   Once you have accomplished that, you are ready to go.

What are the ingredients for this chicken lollipop?

The ingredients are only about 10. I don’t know about you, but that screams a big YES for me. I’m that mama that loves a quick and easy recipes. Enough of my babbling let’s get on to these lollipop BBQ chicken ingredients!

How to make chicken lollipop

Did you know that this recipe can be baked, smoked, or fried, just to name a few? The method I choose to use is deep frying. I deep-fried these chicken legs and then dipped them in my favorite BBQ sauce bowl.

Steps to cooking lollipop chicken

  • Preheat your grease to 350 degrees
  • The first thing you want to do is cut your chicken in a lollipop. You can refer to the passage above for how to do so.
  • Next, you want to mix all your seasoning up in a bowl and rub them thoroughly onto your chicken.
  • Grab a bowl and add your flour to a bowl.
  • Season your flour and mix
  • Next, add in your chicken (make sure they are coated well.
  • Lastly, add your chicken to the grease and cook until they are done. If you use a deep fryer wait until it’s ready.
  • Let your chicken drain onto a napkin, then dip in your favorite BBQ sauce.

  • 4 Chicken Legs
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Black Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Paprika
  • 1 Tbsp Seasoning salt
  • 1 Tbsp Onion Powder
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • Vegetable Oil Enough to fill the max limit on your deep fryer.
  • BBQ Sauce Your Favorite

Flour Seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Seasoning Salt
  • 1 Tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Onion Powder

Instructions

  • Preheat your grease to 350 Degrees
    Vegetable Oil
  • Cut the excessive meat off the leg of your chicken.
    4 Chicken Legs
  • Clean your chicken thoroughly
  • Add your chicken to a bowl
  • Season the chicken thoroughly
    1 Tbsp Garlic Powder, 1 Tbsp Paprika, 1 Tbsp Seasoning salt, 1 Tbsp Onion Powder, 1 Tbsp Black Pepper
  • Add the flour to a bowl
    2 Cups Flour
  • Add seasoning to your flour and mix chicken legs in well making sure to coat all pieces with flour
    1 Tbsp Garlic Powder, 1 Tbsp Black Pepper, 1 Tbsp Paprika, 1 Tbsp Seasoning salt, 1 Tbsp Onion Powder, 1 Tbsp Onion Powder
  • Place your chicken in grease and allow to cook until the inside temperature reaches 175 degrees or the deep fryer is finish.
  • Take out and dip in your favorite BBQ sauce or eat as is.
