Italian sausage is my go-to meal when I’m on my way to the gym. It’s easy and takes about 15 minutes to put together. This is another easy one-pot meal!
Grocery Store List
Italian Sausage- I used chicken, but you can use pork and Italian sausage if that’s your preference.
Sweet Peppers– I used a mixture of colored sweet peppers—yellow, red, and orange.
White Onion- These work together well with the smoky sausage, giving you a great deal of flavor.
How To Make Italian Sausage and Peppers?
Medium-High Heat- Go ahead and set your stove to the recommended temperature.
Heat Things Up – Add your olive oil to the skillet and allow it to heat up.
Italian Chicken Sausage- Add your chopped sausages and mini sweet peppers.
Sear It Up- Allow your meat to cook, stirring occasionally until it reaches your desired browning.
Plate- Add alongside some perfectly cooked white rice or precooked store-brought rice.
Variations/Substitutions
- Enjoy with a side of veggies if you don’t want the extra added calories from the white rice.
- Add other meats to take your protein meal prep dinner to the next level.
Italian Sausage and Peppers
Ingredients
- 4 Italian Chicken Sausages
- Sweet bell peppers a mix of red, yellow, and orange for a burst of color
- 1/2 Onion thinly sliced
- 1/2 Green Bell Pepper
- -2 Cups Beef broth
- – 1 tablespoon of butter
- – 2 Tablespoons Olive oil
- – Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian chicken sausages and cook them until they’re nicely browned on all sides. Remove the sausages from the skillet and set them aside.– 2 Tablespoons Olive oil, 4 Italian Chicken Sausages
- In the same skillet, add a tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add the thinly sliced onions and cook them until they become soft and translucent.– 1 tablespoon of butter
- Add the sweet bell peppers to the skillet and sauté them until they begin to soften and caramelize slightly. The vibrant colors of the peppers will bring a burst of life to your dish!Sweet bell peppers, 1/2 Onion, 1/2 Green Bell Pepper
- Pour in enough beef broth to cover the sausages and vegetables partially. Season with salt and pepper to taste.-2 Cups Beef broth
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the sausages to absorb the delicious broth.
- Once the sausages are cooked through and the peppers are tender, remove the skillet from the heat. Sprinkle some freshly chopped parsley over the top for a vibrant finishing touch.– Salt and pepper to taste
- Serve over a bed of rice.
